Tour Of The Facilities

The Vale Vet Animal Hospital at Stinchcombe is a member of the British Veterinary Hospitals Association. This means that it has been inspected independently by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. The inspection covers a whole range of issues relating to the care of pets, including the continuing education of staff, the provision of anaesthetic and monitoring equipment, the quality of x-ray facilities, and members of staff of the premises 24 hours a day. Only hospitals that have passed this inspection are allowed to display the British Veterinary Hospitals Association logo and call themselves a hospital.

We have on-site free parking. If you need help getting your pet in or out of your car, just ask at reception.

Once you are in the hospital, our receptionists will greet you and bring up your pet's records on our computer system ready for your consultation with a vet or nurse.

You can call in any time to buy pet food, accessories, flea treaments or wormers from our well stocked shop.

If you are not sure if you need to see a vet, then book into a free nurse clinic where you can ask for advice on general care of your pet.

Our large central area links to the operating theatres, X-ray room, dental theatre and cat and dog wards. The large sinks allow animals of all shapes and sizes to be given a bath when necessary or, in this case, just because they like it.

If your pet needs an operation, he will be prepared in a specially designed pre-prep area.

Our advanced X-ray facility allows us to diagnose health problems and to investigate broken bones. Pets are anaethetised before an X-ray to ensure that they lie very still and to ensure that staff are not constantly exposed to X-rays.

Every job has its paper work and each vet has their own desk where they can write up case notes, prepare laboratory reports and phone owners to give updates on their pets' progress.

We have separate wards for cats and for dogs as this is more relaxing for both species. We also have an intensive care ward where very poorly pets can recuperate without any disturbance.

Mark Norcott examines this puppy in one of our 5 spacious consulting rooms. Each one has a computer linked to our central system so that vets can call up your pet's notes during the consultation.

Rachel Mowbray carries out a routine operation assisted by one of our fully qualified veterinary nurses

Our endoscope allows internal investigation to diagnose health problems without the need for investigative surgery. Here one of our vets, Myra Stevenson, discusses a case with Mark Norcott. We also have ultrasound equipment and vets with the expertise to use this.

During an operation, a nurse will constantly monitor the pet, using our sophisticated anaesthetic monitoring equipment, which is shown here, where necessary.

Our in-house laboratory, staffed by our own laboratory technician, allows us to analyse blood and investigate cells without having to send samples away, giving us results the same day.

We have a fully equipped dental surgery with equipment you would recognise from visits to your own dentist. Our vets can scale and polish your pet's teeth helping to prevent gum disease and tooth decay.
